Something is happening in San Diego. The city that once felt like a sleepy beach town is becoming one of the most interesting places in the country for intentional psychedelic use, and the community forming around it is unlike anything we've seen before.
Why San Diego?
Part of it is geography. The natural environment here, with ocean, mountains, desert, and sun, provides an exceptional container for experiences. There's something about waking up to the Pacific that opens people to the idea that reality might be bigger than their day-to-day concerns.
Part of it is demographics. San Diego has a large veteran population, many of whom have found relief from PTSD through plant medicine when conventional treatments failed. It has a strong wellness culture, a major research university, and a proximity to Mexico that has historically made it an entry point for alternative medicine practices.
The Community
We've been blown away by the people we've met through Field Trip. Veterans using microdosing to manage anxiety. Therapists incorporating plant medicine into their practices. Artists who've broken through creative blocks they'd carried for years. Parents microdosing to be more present with their kids. Athletes using functional mushrooms for recovery and focus.
The through-line isn't demographics. It's intention. The people gravitating toward this work are asking real questions about who they want to be and how they want to live.
Where Field Trip Fits In
We started Field Trip because we believed San Diego deserved a local mushroom delivery service that actually gave a damn.
